Nursery 'Reveal'!

Hi All! I can't believe my due date is just 11 days away!  We are so ready to meet this little fellow (and I'm so ready to feel 'normal' again, though that may take a while).  For now, I am keeping myself busy by what I think is what they call nesting.   For all I know W may just have been praying extra hard that I would clean the house and keep up with the laundry before baby.  ;) OK, on to the reason you clicked over...to see the nursery!  It has been a labor of love and has pushed my creativity (see previous post ), but we are so happy with the way it has turned out!  As of now, it is about 90% complete (I still need to paint the double doors [ they are an ugly yellow ] and install blinds and we still need to install the closet doors).  BUT -- all of that can be done later.  I finished the most important parts (to me), and we have all of the necessities to begin life as a family of 3. So, here is a tour of our nursery!  ( Side ...

Nursery Inspiration

I love decorating.  I love changing up old spaces.  I love making new spaces feel like 'home'.  It is part of my creative nature and how I express myself, and usually I can tell you my exact vision for a room after being in it for less than 2 seconds.  That is how it has been with our entire house reno...I know what I want it to look like (and thankfully, W and I have agreed on everything!).  Not so with the nursery. In the early stages of pregnancy, I was so antsy to get started decorating and designing the room our baby will spend a lot of time in and around.  I spent countless hours browsing online (Pinterest) and sitting in the empty nursery space seeing if I could get the 'vibe' of what I wanted...and yet - nothing.   Talk about frustrating!  For someone who is so decisive and loves decorating, I hit a major creative wall.  That said, once we found our gorgeous crib + dresser, I had a better handle on what I wanted it to look lik...

Bowling House Renovation: DIY artwork

Hi all!  I want to share with you my latest DIY project - a piece of "artwork" ( if you will ) to hang over our office space in our 3rd bedroom. I love to decorate.  Like, love  to decorate.  I also love to craft.  These 2 hobbies came in to play during this project, and I could not be happier with the results.   When you are renovating on a budget sometimes you can't have that cool piece of art that you want, or you have to settle for the lamp from Marshall's and not the designer lamp you love.  That's ok!  (I happen to really love Marshall's and Homegoods!)  You just have to know what style you're going for and the rest is simple.  What I do is look for inspiration - whether that be on Pinterest, browsing online, or window shopping.  I am always on the look out for something to inspire me, something that I can say " Hey - I can do that...maybe better! "  Hence this project.  I was browsing through WorldMarket a few m...

Bowling House Renovation: Master Ceiling

Happy 2015!  I hope your holidays were joyful, laughter-full, and restful.  We spent Thanksgiving with W's family and Christmas with my family.  We had a great holiday season, but seemingly did not take many pictures.  Here is a pic of us after Christmas Eve service at church.    Merry Christmas!   As we continue to re-do our house, I thought it would be time to update you on our progress, highlighting the master bedroom ceiling! Our house was built in the 1970's and the ceiling textures definitely reflect that time.  Not to mention the previous owner had everything painted the same awful yellowish-white.  I'm talking ceiling, walls, trim, doors...you name it, it was yellowish-white.  We wanted to do something cool to our master ceiling because it is vaulted.  We searched Pinterest, Houzz, magazines, and our own brains and came up with an idea to do a tongue and groove type ceiling treatment.   After a good deal of ...
